It’s opener there in the wide open air

Aquarium

So today I had a long-ass day trip. I went to Connecticut to South Norwalk’s Maritime Aquarium. It was for Social Circles, a day trip on Metro North.

It was an hour out on the train, then we were in scenic downtown South Norwalk. Teeny-tiny town. Everyone there kept staring at us, a group of about 12 people. No tourists to speak of. The aquarium is the only thing going on in town.

When we got to the aquarium we met the mayor of the town. He was so excited to see tourists, kept asking if we were going to some restaurants, if we wanted to stay in a hotel in town, anything to keep us there longer.

The place was fun as aquariums go. They had a big petting pool full of tiny manta-ray like fish (looked like manta rays, but weren’t them exactly, about a foot long not including the tail). I petted one, kinda slick & slimy.

After that we caught an IMAX movie at the aquarium, one on Shackleton’s artic expedition. I saw the documentary on it that came out last year, The Endurance, it’s really an astounding story. The hardships they went through, and they fact they all got out alive is really inspiring.

And in totally unrelated news, how great are the Gorillaz? Damn that’s some fine music. Been a long time since I heard something that really caught me that way. Good good stuff.
