Jeremiah
Has anyone else seen the show Jeremiah? It’s running on Showtime, their new “Sci-Friday” series now that Stargate is moving to the Sci-Fi channel. It has Luke Perry and Malcolm Jamal-Warner, so it was a trip back to 80′s land.
The setup for the series is that some kind of virus hit the Earth and wiped out everyone on the planet over the age of puberty. All that was left was kids who had to pick up the pieces and try to hang onto civilization.
Some details seem odd, there are lots of people with very clean, bright clothes, and you’d think that they’re all using scavenged clothing. The series is set 15 years after the “Big Death” hit. Still, this dark future portrayed is much more believable than Dark Angel on Fox. On Dark Angel everyone seems happy and normal, all services work (electricity, gas, etc) and they even keep bike messengers going. So I’m much happier with Jeremiah’s internal consistency.
Jeremiah was written and created by Joe Straczynski, the same guy behind Babylon 5, so the writing is there. I’m giving it a chance, keeping it scheduled on my TiVo for now.
No commentsKlaatu!
I saw a really great comedy show on Friday night here in New York. It’s a group called Klaatu. They do improv comedy like the TV show “Who’s Line is it Anyway?”. If you live in NYC it’s a good act to catch, they have free shows from time to time, and it’s not that expensive. Plus for some reason they always give out door prizes.
Anyway, good stuff! When you go be ready to shout out some crazy stuff, keep a few objects, professions and emotions in mind to try and mess with them.
