I’m Engaged!
So Chris, myself and my family all went to Disneyland over Labor Day weekend. You can see the pictures of Disneyland and California Adventure here.
I however had a plan beyond just going to Disneyland. It was time to propose to my sweetie! Earlier, Chris had told me about how her grandmother had given her wedding & engagement rings to Chris. I was able to track down the rings, and had them ready for when we went to Disneyland. I made a sign too, and had that hidden in my bag.
So on our second day in California, we went to Splash Mountain first. On Splash Mountain, as they drop the log down the waterfall they take a picture of the group. After the ride you can see the picture projected on the walls in a room, then buy them if you like.
I folded and hid my sign in my camera bag, and then when we were going down the waterfall I whipped out the picture and held it up. I couldn’t tip Chris off about it, so her arm sorta blocked the view:
After we got off the ride I went into the room with the projected images and waited for our picture to show. When it came up I pointed to it and asked Chris, “what’s that on our picture? Is it a sign?” She looked over at it but wasn’t sure what was up. When she came over to look at it and started to read the bits that were visible I went down on one knee and took out her grandmother’s ring and proposed! She said yes, although she seems to have forgotten exactly what happened. Luckily we have video tape and lots of pictures to prove it!
The people running the photo area at Splash Mountain ran out with a copy of the picture at this point for free, congratulated us and led us back onto the ride for a private ride on our own log. This time on the way down we posed better with the sign and Chris pointing at her ring:
After that we sat down on a bench while she cried and called her parents & friends. It was a great trip!
I couldn’t ask for a better woman to marry, I love you Chris!!!
