Raiders of the Lost Blog

It’s opener there in the wide open air

A bit of a scare, but everything’s ok now

So on Friday at her regular visit to her doctor, Chris was found to have a high level of a protein, FFN, which is an indicator that early labor is beginning.  Her doctor called us in Jersey and we had to drive in to NYU hospital to have Chris admitted.  They wanted to hook her up to monitors to see if she was having contractions, and then if she was, to treat them.

Chris was having irregular contractions, so we began treatment.  They held her until Sunday at the hospital.  Additionally they were worried that if the baby was born prematurely that its lungs wouldn’t be fully developed.  So they gave her two steriod injections which will help the baby’s lungs tremendously.

The contractions responded to the treatment, so she was able to be released on Sunday.  She’ll be staying home now on bed rest for the next two weeks, and potentially until the delivery.  For now, our goal is just getting as many weeks as we can along before delivery.

Hi, don’t know you guys but visit this site regularly. Sounds exceedingly boring to be in bed all day. Though now that I think of it, there could be some things to do: catching up on your reading, writing to old friends, and you could get Tom to set up the computer so you can surf all day long.. A mini refrigerator by the bed..

    Best of wishes,
    Suzanne
